After studying architecture at London Met, Omar started his career in a small architecture firm but quickly shifted his career path to interiors. Forging his own path in 2016, Omar and his team have completed dozens of full renovations and interior design projects in London, adapting complex and frustrating spaces for purposeful use. Today, Space Shack juggles luxury projects that run the gamut from minimalist contemporary to idiosyncratic flash, always staying true to the client’s individual style and personality, whilst the essence of Space Shack is woven in throughout the design journey.
We've been working with Omar for a while now so this month we asked him for some insider tips to share with you...
What are your top tips on adding character to a space?
'I would definitely try to retain existing features of a space, so if there’s beams, columns or original parquet flooring, instead of replacing or covering try to retain these features by fixing them up only a little.'
What suggestions would you give to someone starting a new interiors project on their home?
'Make sure you plan and have a contingency on your budget as things will add up and you want to be as prepared as possible.
Also, keep all organised and written down in a spreadsheet from design ideas to budgets. Pinterest is LIFE! '
Who is your favourite brand at the moment and why? What would be your favourite home accessory of theirs?
'Ferm Living - because I love the minimal and chic design of the products. My favourite products at the moment have to be the hour glass planter or the Vuelta Pendant.'
What’s on your Christmas wish list this year?
'I’m looking forward to Christmas this year as I’m in my new space and have many things I’d like to get. The Dining table is for sure on my top list and lots of interior books!'
